The Opportunity

Due to growth we are currently recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our rail team. The role will be site based covering the Wessex region with the majority of works between London Waterloo and Southampton. Reporting to the Programme Commercial Manager you will be responsible for the management of a team of Quantity Surveyors and the successful commercial management of pre-construction and construction works for both Network Rail and Osborne, in line with the One Team Wessex Vision. You will be responsible for the robust commercial management of schemes through design and construction, ensuring that the Supply Chain are managed in accordance with their subcontract and ensure the teams are fully aware of the commercial position of projects within your remit to ensure the team can make informed decisions and ensure there are no surprises to Osborne or our customer Network Rail. This entails working closely with our customers, stakeholders, our main design partner, other designers, supplier partners, and our delivery teams to build an open and honest relationship that delight our customers, are of a high quality, within the financial targets set and in line with agreed programmes.
 
What are we looking for?

We are ideally looking for a Commercial professional who has good working knowledge of the NEC forms of contracts in a Civil Engineering environment. You will be able to directly manage a small team, supporting their development at all times, ensuring they grow both professionally and personally. You will be commercially savvy and be able to work collaboratively, a key component of the One Team Wessex culture. You will have good written and oral communications skills and be able to generate reporting which is concise and easy to understand. You will be able to manage both internal and external stakeholders and be comfortable taking accountability for your actions, and holding others to account to ensure successful delivery of the programme.
