The Opportunity

We have a great opportunity to join our Infrastructure business to lead the business on Safety and Sustainability. This is a newly created role and will report on a day-to-day basis into the Operations Director for the Infrastructure business but would also have a functional reporting line into the Group Head of Safety Health and Environment (SHE). The Head Of Safety and Sustainability would also assume line management responsibility for the Rail and Highways SHE Managers within the Infrastructure business and be responsible for setting out the strategy for the business, ensuring that there is an on-going commitment to improve performance in safety, wellbeing and sustainability, which aligns with both the wider group strategy and more specific business area objectives.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is passionate about Safety, Wellbeing and Sustainability and the absolute impact it has on a business, and its people. You will be progressive in your thinking, and understand what good looks like, being able to draw in new thinking from a diverse range of sources. You will have lead and developed a team through coaching, mentoring and role modelling and understand how behaviours and the understanding of them, is critical to success. You will have great communications skills and be able to relate to people both internally and externally at all levels, through simple and easy to understand language. Finally you'll be commercially savvy and be able to impact on the business performance through effective strategies relating to safety and sustainability.
