The Opportunity

To support the growth of our rail business, we are currently recruiting for a Development Manager. Based from home and London, The Development Manager will support on the successful development of a package of pre-construction works for both Network Rail and Osborne, in line with the One Team Wessex Vision. As part of the Pre-Construction design and developments team; you will be accountable for the development of schemes through design and other pre-construction activities, to ultimately hand over the schemes to our Delivery teams to construct. This entails working closely with our customers, stakeholders, our main design partner, other designers, supplier partners, and our delivery teams to create solutions that delight our customers, are of a high quality, within the financial targets set and in line with agreed programmes.

You will lead by example by engendering the collaborative One Team Wessex culture throughout the package team, including suppliers and customers, ensuring that everyone works towards our common vision of a vibrant delivery mechanism that delivers on promises, chosen by customers and has safety at its core.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has experience of Pre-Construction design activities, ideally within a rail environment. You will have a good understanding of general civil engineering from a projects perspective and have managed design programmes and been responsible for their delivery, in terms of quality, design assurance, commercial performance, and meeting programme constraints. You will be able to motivate people and drive business performance, possessing good levels of personal energy and be comfortable operating in a complex, fast paced environment. You will have the credibility to establish customer and team confidence whilst always looking at innovative ways to improve performance.
